About KS Fabric Arts
Sewing has been "my thing" since I learned to use my mom's sewing machine at the age of 13. However, I don't know which
inspires me more, the sewing or the fabric. A trip to the fabric store, with all the beautiful colors, textures and patterns
gets my mind overflowing with ideas. Needless to say, I'm a fabriholic.
Many people have told me I should use my creative talent to make a living; which reinforced my intention to do so.
After earning my Bachelors degree in Business Administration, working briefly in the automotive industry, then taking time
off to be a mom to my 3 wonderful boys, I felt that my time had come.
In an effort to deplete my fabric stockpile I made some handbags for myself. It was fun watching these scraps of fabric
take shape, like little transportable sculptures. It was then that I decided to dive in and create a line to sell at
art/craft shows.
Since that decision, in 2002, I've been honing my craft, striving for excellence in every aspect of my business
(good thing for that Business Degree). I am continually testing new designs and techniques, searching for the right
materials from exquisite fabric to sturdy interfacing and hardware. All this is done while keeping a prudent eye on costs
so that I can offer my handbags at a reasonable price.
The style of my bags reflects a careful balance of fun and sophistication, offering women an opportunity to express their
uniqueness. What differentiates my bags from others is my focus on high quality, functionality, detailed workmanship and
distinctive beauty. My bags have to stand-up to everyday use while looking great through it all.
